LIBRARY RULES AND REGULATIONS
Membership and Access
Entry to the library is permitted only with a valid I.D. Card issued by the Department of Education.
Library membership is available for B.Ed., M.Ed., B.A. B.Ed. (ITEP) students, Ph.D. scholars, and faculty members of the Department of Education.
To obtain membership, submit the duly filled prescribed application form at the membership counter.
Membership will be valid for one academic session and must be renewed at the specified time.
Loan Privileges
Each member is entitled to borrow the following number of books:
Faculty Members : 10 books
Ph.D Scholars : 06 books
M.Ed Students : 04 books
B.Ed Students : 04 books
B.A.B.Ed. Students : 04 books
Books marked 'R' are issued for 7 days, while general books are issued for 14 days.
Books marked 'RR'/'CR', periodicals, dissertations, theses, question papers, and syllabi are not available for issue and may only be consulted in the library upon submission of an Identity Card. These materials (except dissertations and theses) may be photocopied.
Book Borrowing and Returns
Book borrow and return services are available on weekdays from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Members must inspect books before borrowing and will be held responsible for any damage or missing items.
Books must be returned by the due date indicated on the date slip.
Books issued from the library cannot be returned on the same day of issue.
If an issued book has been brought into the library, it must be returned before leaving and cannot be taken outside.
Books returned by a member will not be reissued if reserved by others.
Sub-lending of books is prohibited and may lead to revocation of membership.
Library cards are strictly for personal use and are non-transferable.
A late fine of Rs. 1/- per day is charged for books returned after the due date.
Lost or damaged books must be replaced or paid for (if unavailable in the market), including binding charges.
General Conduct and Etiquette
Users must maintain silence and show consideration for others.
Conversations, group discussions, mobile phone use, loud greetings, or dragging chairs should be avoided inside the library.
Defacing library property, including writing on books, tables or walls, is strictly prohibited.
No food or beverages are permitted in the Reading Hall, except for bottled water.
Personal Belongings and Security
Personal bags, books, and non-library reading materials are prohibited inside the library. These items must be kept in the lockers/open property counter at the user's own risk.
Users may keep valuables (wallets, mobile phones, tablets, laptops, etc.) with them at their own risk.
All personal belongings must be removed when leaving the premises.
Unclaimed items will be removed during cleaning operations.
The library shall not be responsible for any loss, damage or theft of the user's personal belongings.
All material/documents must be shown to library staff when exiting.
Book Location and Catalogue
Members have open access to the shelves in the stack halls and the freedom to browse books during specified hours.
Books should not be re-shelved by users to prevent misplacement.
The library offers the following facilities for book location:
Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC): Two computers are available in the Reading Hall for OPAC access. Users can search for documents by author, title, call number, accession number, etc.
Public Catalogue (Card Form): A card-based public catalogue is placed near the library's Main Counter. It is organised into two parts: Alphabetical (Dictionary) and Classified
Library Timings
Monday to Friday : 09:00 AM to 05:30 PM
Saturday, Sunday and Holidays : Closed
(The library will be open from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm on all working days during the July, Autumn, and Winter breaks. It will be closed on Holidays, Saturdays, and Sundays).
Note: Non-compliance with these rules and regulations may result in temporary suspension of library membership
