ABOUT US
Braille Library, the special unit of DULS, was established in the year 1976 with the motto to facilitate accessible materials for visually impaired users. The journey of the Library started with some audio cassettes and three odd Tape Recorders in a single room with an area of around (15x20) square feet. The digitalization process began in 2013, with the transformation from traditional to digital in the process of audio recording with the help of three soundproof studios in the library. Computer systems were internally connected to ease the process of digital recording. Simultaneously, a Braille Embosser was engaged to provide braille outs for the Visually Impaired users.
At the same time, accessible materials were prepared as e-text and e-pub with the help of some powerful scanners of the Braille Library. It has a reading room of about 20 seat capacity for its special users, an Editing room for editing, a Braille Production room for the preparation of braille materials, three soundproof studios for recording, and a stack room for the preservation of hard materials.
