Research is a systematic and scientific way to expand the universe of knowledge, and it is crucial not only for the growth of a country but also for society as a whole, especially in a knowledge-based society. Every new piece of knowledge contributes to wealth production, enriching human existence globally and having positive societal implications. Academic researchers undertake research out of intellectual inquisitiveness and to expand the horizon of new knowledge. Academic institutions worldwide have planned and synchronised initiatives to promote research activities and courses on campus, encompassing various facilities, such as funding, infrastructure, and resources. Additionally, as academic institutions are rated on their ability to conduct high-calibre research and provide superior educational programs, several ranking criteria require them to pay significant attention to research and publishing.
The University of Delhi envisions research as the cornerstone of academic excellence and societal progress. Guided by the transformative framework of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the University is committed to fostering a dynamic ecosystem where inquiry, innovation, and intellectual rigor thrive. In alignment with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and with a commitment to strengthening the research, innovation, education, and learning ecosystem of the University of Delhi, the Delhi University Library System (DULS) has launched a pioneering initiative — ShodhSarthi: DULS Research Support Services. ShodhSarthi is designed as a comprehensive platform to empower scholars, faculty, and students by providing structured guidance, resources, and training across the entire research lifecycle. It seeks to bridge gaps in research skills, foster innovation, and enhance the quality of academic output by offering a suite of specialised services.
As academic research becomes increasingly complex and dynamic, it is essential for academic libraries to support their researchers in adapting to these changes and maintaining a positive attitude throughout their research journey through effective research support services. DULS acts at the forefront of this new demand and offers research guidance and consultancy, research impact measurement, open access to scholarly resources, recommendations for research tools, research data management, scholarly publishing, archiving, and preservation of research outputs, which are key aspects of research support services.
Our Services
Research Consultancy
DULS offers dedicated one-on-one and group consultancy services through its team of expert Research Librarians, designed to support the diverse needs of the University’s research community. These services provide personalized guidance on literature searching, conducting literature reviews, reference management, plagiarism awareness, research methodologies, and effective use of databases. Librarians also assist with citation styles, open access publishing, and research data management, ensuring that scholars, faculty, and students receive comprehensive support across the entire research lifecycle.
Web Guides
Get help navigating through the very extensive web guides on various research-related topics. Web Guides covers four major dimensions of research, viz. Research Methodology, Scholarly Publishing, Research Impact Measurement, and Research Data Management and Analysis. Each dimension is further divided into 5–6 themes, and each theme covers 5–6 research topics, comprehensively addressing approximately 80 research skills enhancement topics. These guides offer curated resources, tutorials, and best practices on research skills, providing comprehensive coverage of essential competencies.
Research Infrastructure
The Delhi University Library System (DULS) provides a well-structured and supportive research infrastructure, carefully tailored to meet the diverse needs of scholars at the University of Delhi. Through ShodhSarthi, researchers can seamlessly navigate facilities, including dedicated research floors, allocation of research cubicles, and secure locker distribution for personal storage. In addition, DULS ensures access to a wide range of advanced research tools and subscribed databases, enabling scholars to pursue their academic inquiries with efficiency, focus, and confidence.
Workshops & Training
The Delhi University Library System (DULS) regularly organizes a wide range of workshops and training programs aimed at enhancing the research skills of scholars across the University of Delhi. These initiatives are carefully designed to strengthen competencies in areas such as academic writing, literature review techniques, citation and reference management, plagiarism awareness, research ethics, and effective use of digital databases. By offering structured, hands-on learning opportunities, DULS empowers researchers to adopt best practices, improve scholarly output, and align with global standards of academic excellence.
