LIBRARY RULES
Maintenance of Discipline
- Every user(s) entering the library must show their library ID Card, sign the visitor register, and provide their ID card when availing of library services such as Issue-Return, renewal, and others.
- User(s) will deposit their personal belongings at the property counter in their own responsibility. Do not keep your valuable items like laptop, mobile phone, money, and other important and costly items in your bags; if anything is lost, the library staff will not be responsible.
- Please silence or turn off your mobile phones, pagers, and watch alarms before entering the library.
- Vandalization in the library is strictly prohibited.
- Smoking, Pan chewing and Spitting are strictly prohibited inside the library.
- Users are prohibited from writing on, damaging, scratching, mutilating, or marking any book belonging to the library.; otherwise, disciplinary action may be taken against Violators.
- Library materials must not be taken out of the library unless a library staff member has properly issued and verified them.
- Photocopying the entire book is prohibited; copying only portions allowed by copyright law is permitted solely for study and research purposes.
- Users should not leave their materials, such as personal books, newspapers, notes, mobile phones, laptops, earphones, other devices, etc., or personal belongings on tables and should not reserve seats for future use. It is strictly prohibited to reserve seats for friends or later use. If bags, books, or other items are left unattended on tables, other users are permitted to remove them.
- The seats are to be used in the library on a first-come, first-served basis, except for reserved seats for individuals with physical disabilities, faculty members, research scholars, and others as necessary.
- Users are not allowed to place their feet on tables, chairs, or shelves in the reading area or any part of the library.
- The competent authority may suspend a user's membership for misbehaviour, misuse of the library, or acting indecently towards the library staff(s).
- Notices, publicity materials/ wall writings etc. are not allowed in any part of the Library building.
After consultation, please leave the books on the tables for the library staff to re-shelve them.
Circulation & Membership
- Library membership cards are not transferable and must be produced whenever requested by Library staff.
- Library membership for users is renewed annually at the start of each academic year.
- Members should notify the Library of any changes to their address, phone number, department, or field of study during their membership period.
- There is a fine of Rs. 100/- for losing the library membership card.
- Before borrowing books, users should examine them carefully to check for any damage or missing pages. If a book is found to be damaged or certain pages are missing, the borrower should inform the library staff immediately and get this statement recorded on the book. Otherwise, he/she shall be held responsible for the damage discovered at the time of returning the books.
- Issued books may be renewed only twice by users, provided that the books are not in demand or reserved by other users. If a book becomes overdue and is not renewable, it must be returned.
- Reference books and bound volumes can only be issued to members with special permission. To obtain permission, please contact the university librarian or the library in-charge.
- Manuscripts, reference books, rare books, textbooks for consultation, multi-volume sets, theses and dissertations, journals (both loose issues and bound volumes), magazines, newspapers, and non-print materials cannot be borrowed.
- Users are advised to return books on or before the due date. No book will be issued to user(s) having overdue books on their accounts. If a user(s) repeatedly fails to return books on time, their membership may be suspended.
- The librarian shall have the right to recall any issued book(s) from the member(s) at any time without assigning any reason.
- The member is expected to return borrowed books on or before the due date stamped on the date label in the book.
An overdue charge of Rs.1/- per volume per day is charged for the books returned late.

- Loss of library books or membership cards must be reported in writing to the University Librarian or In-charge of the Library immediately.
- Borrowers will be asked to pay at the rates fixed by the Library for or replace the book lost or returned in damaged or mutilated condition.
- Users can borrow either a single volume or an entire multi volume set of books. If a volume from a multi volume set is lost or mutilated, the borrower must replace that same specific volume. However, if the damaged volume is unavailable separately, the borrower is responsible for replacing the entire set.
- 'No Dues Certificate' will be issued by the circulation desk only after all borrowed books & other items have been returned and any outstanding library fine has been paid in full by the user.
- These rules may be revised or changed periodically without assigning any reason. The university librarian has the authority to make decisions for the benefit of the library.
